Tropical fish inspire innovative design yacht TOFI

A yacht to match your holiday? Sounds absurd, but if the coral-themed “Tofi” yacht becomes a reality, you could be exploring the reefs of the world in your own tropical fish-inspired luxury vessel.

Designed by South Korean Kim Hyun-Seok, the colorful concept yacht has garnered much attention after winning the 2011 Millennium Yacht Design Award at Seatec, an international exhibition focused on boat and megayacht tech.  “For this trimaran project, I wanted to create a yacht that has a strong, eye-catching presence and to create an enjoyable yachting experience,” explains Hyun-Seok.

Computer-generated images show the concept yacht “Tofi”, which was inspired by colorful coral reefs and tropical fish.

Designer Kim Hyun-Seok wanted his yacht to combine “natural beauty with fun activity.

The design won the 2011 Millennium Yacht Design Award at Seatec in Carrara in Italy. Judged praises Kim for his “brave interpretative exploration of the motor boat concept”.

The exterior of the 12-meter-long  trimaran boasts an extensive rear deck with easy acces to the sea.

Inside, the cabin is divided by coral reef-inspired partitions.Cabin walls are replaced by floor-to-ceiling windows – providing panoramic views and a stream of natural sunlight.

The yacht can accommodate up to four quests across two double cabins and is design to reach a maximum spead of 17 knots and a cruising speed of 13knots is envisaged.
